The treatment of chronic depression is more often a dire need that is not recognized by the patient. Major Depressive Disorder is a severe disorder characterized entirely by behavioral symptoms which include mood swings, persistent feelings of slowness, a general lack of interest towards anything in life, a complete lack of excitement.
